BABYLON:
OUR CRIES HEARD ONLY BY THE NIGHT
an inversion of William Blake's "Jerusalem"
composed by Felipe Medrado
What will he say when he sees our
Free world within a plague designed:
What Tyger lurks behind the veil,
This shadow cast across mankind!
What can truth do on a blind Earth,
Eyes bound by creeds that kill our dreams?
What hope have we in Babylon,
While my soul is ripped at the seams?

Tear out my peace, my calm, my sage:
Tear out my bliss, my joy, my art:
Tear out my love: release my rage!
Tear out my will and break my heart!

I am consumed by this world's curse,
But poisons unlock a new sight:
We built this Babylon to fall,
Our cries heard only by the night.
